I am intending to purchase a used SUV; specifically Toyota Kluger. Do members in this forum have any significant experience with the car? In particular am interested in shortcomings if any.
Provenance is important! Don't buy one without the logbooks.
Klugers are usually bought on novated lease packages (at least in Oz) so they will get their initial services, but that may get neglected when its due to be handed back. As Toyota service charges are expensive...
Service history is important as when they are neglected the catch up costs of repairs willl make you sing the Toyota ad jingle "Oh What a Feeling! (Bend Over!)".
If it has been used by a "Soccer mom" with low milage it will be a better bet than one owned by a "Grey Nomad" who has towed a 20' Caravan around the country (twice).
My sister (with 3 kids) owned one for the period of the lease (about 3 years) without drama and it was serviced to schedule. The only off road work it did was to drive on the lawn to be washed every other weekend. She down traded to a Toyota Camry, as fuel gets expensive in Oz.
Would I buy it? No, but then If I wanted a 4X4 I'd be buying a real Landcruiser in diesel with manual transmission. I like to go off road. I like to tow my boat/Caravan/Box & Car trailers. I like the idea of being able to run on cooking oil if I had to.
Hope that helps.

A Friend bought one on novated lease about 4 or 5 years ago - they hated it and couldn't get rid of it soon enough they complained about the seats and its capabilities.
Try hiring one for a few days to see how you like it - there is a lot of personal taste and needs involved, not to mention you and your family's own physical size - height, weight etc.
Listen to what people say, but you have to live with it and they are not you.....
