Pressure Vessel - Hydrostatic Test

i want to know what is the optimum time for hydrostatic test of pressure vessels?

The optimum time is that period stipulated by the Engineer/Surveyor from the company that is supplying burst indemnity insurance for the facility during the Factory Inspection Test.

thanks for your answer befor this i check in ASME and it dose not specifically address the hold time duration as you answer.

Hi,

Usually 1 hour.

pressurize step by step - 25% each step and hold 10 min.

Once reach 100% hold for 1 hour.

Usually pressurisation is done in steps. waiting 10 or 15 minutes after each step of say 15 or 20%. At working pressure of vessel wait for one hour then over pressurized to specified test pressure and usually it is specified .5 hr or 1 hr. Releasing of pressure shall also be in steps so that vessel take its shape well.
