Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? I'm sure they will help.

Had a chat with one of there tech guys who say these can be tested with a single phase current injection set

I seems that if the relay sees a single pole transient fault then it will take out all 3 poles which makes sense

I think if first ofall I prove the circuit works by useing the test mode to operate the auto reclose then that is the first step.

Next I propose injecting a suitable secondary current into the relay to trip the CB and use a timer to record the dead time then this will sufice.

If any one has any coments then they will be most welcome

thanks

Unless you have one of the programmable protective relay test sets (such as from Doble Engineering, Omicrom, Megger, etc.), you will have to put together something representing the rest of the protection system. This will probably include a circuit breaker simulator of some sort, a source of input to your protective relays (current input to overcurrent relays, for example), and programmable timer(s). The programmable test sets mentioned first can usually do this under control from a laptop computer, with a series of states representing the sequence of events the reclosing scheme is expecting to see.

you can test the relay by using the current outputs of your test set and utilize the contacts output of each shot to your test set to confirm the operating timing of each reclose shot. You can introduce the transients type simulations in relay from your test set and that will make the AR scheme to operate. it is require to configure the relay prior to any testing by disabling other protections .
