Charger Controller

hello, i wanna ask u all....i have battery charger 12V, that can be charge about 1.2A, now i wanna add the controller that can be stop automatically when the battery is fully charge, if can the controller use the PIC... any idea???

It's a popular micro-controller chip made by Microchip. But you probably already knew that and were just tweaking us. Occasionally this has been confused with Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict.

(One of my favorite Pink Floyd pieces.)

Yes, you can use a PIC microcontroller to control a battery charger.

I have used the PICAXE versions of these controllers for this before with success. Programming is simple and drama-free.

As well as just controlling the charge termination, you can use the on-chip PWM generator as the charge current control in this application.

Vellman Kit K8004. DC pulse width cotroller, it works, upto about 6Amps and 35V.

Why not just do it with a Unitrode (TI) charge controller? You can use a linear pass device

Good point! There are many smart charge control IC's which are much easier to use than a microprocessor or a discrete circuit.

but, i didnt find the best circuit that can intergrate with my battery charger, can u give me the ideal circuit that can be automatically stop when the battery is fully charged, i just found the 1 of the way is by using relay, that in certain level of voltage, it will flip from on to off.....

Lord man what do you want us to do? You've been given application links to the very micro controller you originally asked about. You've been given links to other controllers designed specifically to charge a battery that will not require any programming. Do you want us to solder the chips to a prototype board for you and hand you back a few reams of test data, a cost comparison and an anticipated battery longevity analysis for each approach? $%&^$#
