Lux Lumen Calculation

01/21/2011 1:11 PM

Hi, I am an Electrical Engineer and trained in PLC and SCADA. I've got a job in a Lighting company and my responsibilities include Lux/Lumen Calculation, PLC troubleshooting and maintenance of Servo motor. My basic question is what am I up against and what do I need to do avoid mistakes? PLC and servo motor makes sense but is there any software that I need to learn or practice for lux and lumen. Or if some one could elaborate on the Lux Lumen calculation part or any book that I need to go through. Any suggestion on the topic will be greatly acknowledged.

Check here. There are a number of online software sites that will do the calculations. You need to learn how to determine the required lighting levels for different environments.

Dear Guest, If you are an electrical Engineer, you must have studied lux level, lumen etc more than PLC and SCADA. Normally lux level calculation are used by two industries mainly. 1. Lighting manufacturers, 2. Suppliers and 3 Consultants. If you falls in any of this category, definitely the firm should have software for the purpose. If you are in a contracting company, your supplier can provide you the lux level calculation for the basis of selection of light fittings.

I appreciate you, if you want to learn the subject, please go back to the basics again and try manual calculation before you enter in to the softwares.
