Differential Protection in Delta Connection

01/25/2011 1:27 AM

Hi,

It is said that for unbalanced loads ,Delta Connected power Transformers are majory employed.

1. How then is Differential and Earth fault Protection achieved, seeing that this connection allows unbalanced currents.?

2.What acts as a return path seeing there is no neutral?

Best Regards.

capacitance between the line and the source act as path for the earthing................In ungrounded system the fault detection & clearing is not possible. Only alarm can be raised for the ground fault in ungrounded system, which is further difficult to locate the fault
