Recycling Fiberglass

02/03/2011 5:57 PM

I am looking to find a home for about 80,000 pounds of a fiberglass material called a Bi-directional mat/fabric. the material is baled into 2,000 pound bales. any information to whom I could talk to would be great.

Thank you

Craig's List, e-Bay, classifieds, Search GlobalSpec

Do you have the particulars? Who made it? What's the weight/guage/style. What's the volume of a 2,000# bale?

This would have the most value if you can find a boat builder who can use it.

Or, maybe a golf car manufacturer, or anyone who makes fiberglass panels.

In any case the potential purchaser would need to know thickness, etc.

They would use both mat and chopped strand.

It probably wouldn't have as much value if remelted to make more glass products.

(I was born and raised just east of Hot Springs.)

No. Chopped strand glass is fed into a chopper gun and sprayed onto a surface.

Mat fabric is what the name implies.

There must be any number of glass producers that could receive this material as feedstock, and re-use it.

I was wondering if you have a MSDS for this material and how much per pound you are asking and if you have an ongoing supply
