Sensor for Lowara Borehole Pump

02/11/2011 9:03 AM

Hi

We have dismounted bore hole submersible pump which have three sensors, two of the sensor are at the bottom, hope they sense upper and lower level of the water. I am not sure about the third sensor, could anyone who have similar borehole help to to know the function of the third sensor.

Regards

Where is the third sensor in relation to the other two?

All the submersible pumps I install with the three 'sensors' are to ensure the pump does not try to pump water when there is insufficient water to keep the pump cool! The 'sensors' are:-

Bottom-common, Just above the intake of the pump (Above the motor and the filter)

middle-just above the common about 20cm or higher if the pump is high capacity. This is the motor shut off.

Top-motor restart

The Top 'sensor' needs careful consideration. Too low and you risk the motor starting too soon after it has stopped due to the water level raising , which may start the motor while the water is still coming back down the tube causing nasty water hammer resulting in a broken motor drive shaft! This 'Sensor is best left up near the natural water level or a few meters under it to allow for a low water table!

These three sensors are just like contacts on a switch where the water acts as the bridge between them! They all go to the pump control box to do their magic!
