2006 class b motorhome, Mercedes diesel 5 cylinder engine; verses a 2007 or newer v-6 diesel mercedes engine. Is the 5 cylinder as good an engine for a smaller class b motorhome? Is the older 5 cylinder also louder?

Why did Mercedes switch from the in line 5 to the V6? Smoother, quieter, more power, lower emissions? Perhaps all or most of the above.
