Problem with Danfoss Inverter VLT-5000

I installed a 2nd hand Danfoss inverter drive VLT-5000, 400V 45KW at one of lift application at Corrugator's stacker unit where motor is only 380V 29KW. Problem is that if I set the max frequency of drive 35HZ then no problem, motor draws 50A. But if I set max frequency 40HZ and run the motor, motor starts and stops well but it draws 121A and WARN 12 (Torque Limit) warning appears again and again at LCD display.

Please assist how to control on that problem.

If you are programming the "Max. frequency" into the programming area that is meant for setting up the V/Hz ratio, you are getting yourself in trouble. The drive would be thinking you want full voltage at 35 or 40Hz. Make sure you are using the correct parameters.

How was the motor initially connected to the stacker mechanics?

- Was there a gearbox for the speed adjustment?

- Did you remove all the speed reductions and replace with the Inverter?

If yes on any of the above, then check if your motor is going to be overloaded driving the stacker the way you connected it now.

The inverter max frequency can be set to what ever you want it to be the maximum speed limit. BUT the motor running at its high speed (or any speed) must not be overloaded! it seems that your motor is being overloaded at 40Hz, driving the stacker at a speed the motor was not intended to do!? (AT 35Hz, the speed seems OK and the motor is not overloaded... 55A nameplate current?)

Thanks to all for replying.

I was mistaking that I did not set the motor frequency parameter which was initially 50HZ but the motor was 88HZ which was the rute cause of problem. Setting of correct value removed the problem.
