ABS Rules

Medium Voltage distance between phase to phase to ground for an 11kV switchgear as per ABS rules is 120mm, but the SWBoard Manufacturer only provide 75mm and insisted that it is ok in one of our Drilling Rigs. I am the E&I Inspector and dis-agreed but the bosses accepted! This is really bad!

Determine if the gap is only air, or if there is also some other insulating barrier. (Which you might even be able to add after the fact.)

Otherwise, send the bosses a signed memo that if the installation blows up, it will blow up in their faces!

I can't tell which risk is greater: the electrical risk or the political risk. Whatever else, don't stick your hand into the gap!
