Calculating the Thickness for Spacers for 150 LB Flanges in Process Industry

03/03/2011 12:19 AM

I would like to know how to calculate the standard required thickness for a spacer to be used for isolating a pipe line of 30" diameter where 150 LB flanges are used.

I doubt that there is any such standard calculation, but I don't know.

I also don't think if there is any such kind of standard formula for calculating the thickness of the spacer.

But I think for isolating the pipe first you need to know how much pressure will be there in the pipe of whatever liquid is flowing in it. also what is the thickness of the pipe that is used for the conveying of this liquid.

I mean to say that there are other several factors that would be necessary for such calculations.
