Pipe Size

dear all, i have seen that, for a centrifugal pump (50 mWc), inlet pipe diameter is 400 mm and the outlet pipe size is 300 mm. how it is possible? in which situation we select like that. share your experience. thank you,

In many if not most end-suction centrifugal pumps, the inlet is one pipe size larger than the outlet. For NPSHa reasons, the inlet should usually be larger, and this feature helps.

There are also in-line centrifugal pumps, usually with inlet and outlet the same size.
