How to determine the safe working load, any chain pulley blocks,

Are there any standards or set of standards to be followed or maintain

pls guide and reply

I'm afraid you're going to have to look to your local codes. But your equipment should be stamped with a SWL, now what the rate of proof testing is used is down to your local codes. Some companies insist on a higher proof load, the company I served my time wanted 3X SWL

Most lift chains are rated 4X the working load. But the working load of the lift chain is not a good reference for the lifting load of the equipment. The OEM may have it's own standards and used heavier chain. The load limits on any lift equipment should be marked. If it does not have a ID tag listing the load limits you need to contact the manufacture. In the case where there is a counter weight you may need to ID it. Some manufacturers will change the load limits by placing a different counter weight on identical equipment. Once the max working load is acquired use test load to check it out.

If you have a question about the safety of any type of lift equipment you should get it inspected by qualified service company.

Yep.

It will be set by the Engineer/Surveyor for the company supplying failure indemnity insurance at periodic inspection intervals. Its current value will be found in the inspection reports on it and all the other lifting equipment in the facility's General Register.

Clearly, its rate of deterioration will determine its safe working load at any time, and this is what the Engineer/Surveyor is there to assess.

sir,

Thanks a lot for your valuable comments,

however i m using two brand CPB i.e. Braddy & Morris and Indef which are have 2 category i.e. heavy duty and light duty, earlier we have an accident in the plant while using Brady & morris light wt model since than we are using only heavy duty CPB from both the brands, but the heavy duty CPB is heavier for handling here and there, so the user always raise such issue we want light wt model,

we have no SOP or any standards in CPB but since the accident was held we change our product from Lt duty to heavy duty,

we required any standards what there should be so taht we can convience the user
