" ... pirated version ... ", eh? You won't get much sympathy here.

It's quite possible probable that since the license code is already in use on another computer, it won't allow you to use it again. Anti-piracy.

You may have to contact the manufacturer and pay a fee to use that license for multiple computers.

I agree with kramrat and JohnDG. You tell us it is pirated, you already know you are required to purchase another user license (or another copy).

You are asking us to assist in your dishonorable quest. How do you feel when someone steals from you?

It's kind of a gray area for me. If he actually uses it at the office, and he wants to work from home.........................

The easiest work around would probably be to set up a remote desktop, where he could access his office computer from home and use the software whenever he wanted.................it won't cost them anything, and he won't be pirating anything.

As I consider your point of view, it may be sort of a 'fuzzy' pirated software.

I agree with the remote terminal idea... but there may be an internet connection problem he has that we do not know about.

From the Primevera License page:

Although license keys remove technical restrictions (for example, on the number of production CPUs, users, and so on that may be executed on simultaneously), they do not authorize you to deploy Primavera software on more CPUs than you licensed for such use. All license terms and restrictions specified in your agreement and ordering documents remain in full force and effect.

That's what I suspected. If it's something they need on a regular basis, just pay them whatever the fee is to unlock that license for however many computers they want to install it on. They probably won't be able to avoid it anyway......I'm sure circumventing the license key code is next to impossible.

Hmmmnmm... from the license page, I see you may have something to do.

Do you have Version 6.2.1 or earlier? If yes, they wish you to purchase another license. But it appears if you upgrade to V7.0 or newer, you may have additional user licenses at no extra cost. Please check the link I posted earlier and confirm this. I may be misreading it.

Is an upgrade less expensive than another CPU license?

Thanks Mark. I appreciate that.

I am inspired by Milo's recent thread... trying to be part of a kinder, gentler CR4.

I don't mind a little debate/argument if it's warranted. The dumb stuff, like joe over on the air wing thread, gets old fast. It does seem calmer without the guest agitators.

I am not familiar with P6 software but is it possible to un-install the license code (key) from your work computer when you know you are going to work from home and install the key in your home computer?

When you are finished at home, un-install the key and re-install it at work.

I know this will work with some (few) software but you still need a valid (purchased) key.

Don't know if this will work with P6 easily enough to make it worth your while or if it will work at all.
