Conical Strainer for Gas

03/15/2011 9:12 AM

How to define the mesh & aperture size of a conical strainer that to be used in H2 gas compressor?

The gas does not contain any particles & strainer is to be used only for the start-up of the compressor i.e. after commissioning & regular maintainence shut downs.

What is the size of the largest particle that the equipment can pass without damage?

The strainer mesh should be smaller than that figure.

The largest size of particle can be either dust particles / metallic burs / welded flux etc inside the pipe line.

But defining the size of these particles is not easy as it changes from case to case & hence i could not conclude with the size of the particle & then i posted this thread for discussion.

How do i calculate / know these sizes??
