Side-Cracks in Hot Rolled MS Plates

In my workplace, hot rolled carbon steel plates are having side-cracks on edges (5-50mm from edges) ranging from very light to very deep in nature. Can anybody tell me what can be the reason for it?? I had done many trials for it & also got some positive reasons related to it but bit puzzled..

do some ndt test of procured material before going to roll sheets.

Full body (100%) Ultrasonic test of ASTM- Level-b & Level-c done, but nothing found in it..!!! :(

i think u should monitor the required tempreture which is above the upper limit.may be there differene in tempreture at thinner section which cools faster than the stock coming which is thicker and also the material which is coming fom behind looses tempreture thru surface but not fast than thin section, will create stresses and repeatadly thinning processes can cause cracking .

seen this also. so, to counteract, i made discharged temperature of slab from furnace from 1200 C upto 1240 C, but the cracks is so irregular, that it comes in one plate & in next it disappear & like wise...

Edge side cracks on the plate have been encountered for a month, I have tried everything what i know ( Scarfing, Broadsiding, increasing temperature....etc) but not accomplished yet.
