Flow through open channel

hi,

i'm having a open channel of rectangular cross section, with some bends and for some known length.I want to maintain a particular flow rate in this channel.For that i need to maintain a head in my tank.Assume the channel is horizontal(no potential difference).here how i need to approach a problem to find the required head to be maintained at the inlet of the channel?
