Another Earthquake Affects Japan

04/07/2011 10:58 AM

There's been another earthquake in Japan, reports of magnitude 7.4 or 7.5 are coming in. Another tsunami warning has been issued. This is the only Internet report I could find.

Does anyone have any other info?

This is a developing story, but it is substantially lower in magnitude than the last one (7.4 vs. 9.0), but it is a shallower quake (about 25 miles deep) off the east coast, which can be more destructive than a deeper earthquake.

This is the strongest aftershock following the 9.0 quake.

Admin just posted this under 'Today's News', which confirms the shallowness of the quake:

and apparently the USGS just 'downgraded' the magnitude to 7.1.

yeah, everyone is on edge right now, so the rumble of a cement truck is sure to jitter some nerves.

Also, the media just loves a crises and tends to blow things a little out of proportion.

The news is out there, but no more info than what you found.

This is very bad.

Tsunami warning was just lifted.

This has been the Huntley-Brinkley Report.

Huntley-Brinkley??

Wow, my mental picture of you just aged about 25 years.

/They were a great team. I preferred them to Uncle Walter and 'voice of god' Eric Severeid.

OK, then picture a 26-year old interested in the history of broadcast journalism.

I'm guessing Sue off-topic'd herself.

(That's legal now in most states.)

I've been watching this Japanese TV feed NHK which seems pretty good.
