	Once again, I have been challenged by the other layman asking me that what are differences among Earthing, grounding, and bonding? Earthing (EU) and grounding (US), and they are used interchangeable. Is that correct? They believe that the purpose of bonding is to electrostatic protection. But for me, bonding is a term that uses for general protection including electrostatic. The purpose is to ensure an equipotential system. 	Essentially, yes. It also provides a return path for fault current where the fault in the system is from an energized conductor to the bonding system. The impedance of the bonding system is to be as low as possible to facilitate an overcurrent device's functioning. __________________ Joe Contractor to Electrical Inspector, "What do you mean you are going to make me follow the code?".
