I'm not an electrical guy, but I would assume it would be the device rating IE military grade devices have tighter tolerances than commercial or residential grade components.

It's not an immediately recognizable term that I am aware of, but can you give us a context or show how you came across it with relation to electrical issues?

"Grade" to me indicates an elevation as in electrical construction terms.

While I have never heard "Switching from grade", taken in electrical construction context, I would say you are switching from grade elevation to another elevation as in an at grade conduit rack to an overhead conduit rack.

The term grade is the established elevation of the ground (earth) or surface (what you stand on).

Just a guess, but it might mean that the switch is reachable from grade (whether directly by hand or with a "hot stick").

Hi ..thanks for the attempts to answer... I admit that the question is vague....

This text, is taken from an internal regulation.. which defines what safety equipment must be worn / used when operating outside gang-grouped switches, from grade.... I am trying to figure out what they mean by "grade"

Thanks
