I Need a Signal Converter That Can Give Me 0 to 200mA Out For 0 to 20mA In

04/27/2011 6:29 PM

I need to interface a piece of equipment that has an output capable of a maximum range of 0 to 24 mA to an actuator that requires 20 to 160 mA nominal input. I have only found one manufacturer of such a device and know there are bound to be more somewhere. I have 24~28 VDC available to power the signal converter. DIN rail mounting is preferred.

I don't want to know how to build one. I don't want to have a custom built assembly made. I just want to be able to buy a few of them off the shelf from a reputable manufacturer somewhere.

If I have to flip a few switches, move a few jumpers to set ranges and or adjust a pot or four, that is not a problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I do not know of a right from the shelf make, but if you know the load where to dump

the current in you can go with a average 10 time current amplifier. Depending on your application: a DC or AC direct coupled amplifier.

One power transistor and a few components could do the job.

I may have something here at Instrumart but I need to know the input signal type.

Thanks,

Tried to call but apparently you were already gone.

The AXIOMATIC is the one I found myself but I will be happy to talk to you to see what you have in mind.

Have FUN!

You have one critical parameter "Load definition" missing in your catalogs. Without defining Load, meaning of current is incomplete. Perhaps 24V/200mA = 120 Ohms looks like the maximum load for 200mA signal. Perhaps you can fix it at 100 ohms maximum in your catalogs to permit some room for 24V supply. Industrial supplies are often 10V to 30V range anything. Hence for industrial power range it should be defined only 50 ohms maximum.

If you have a regulated DC-DC converter inside your current converters then perhaps you can define as per your own specifications.

Look at how Datasoft have defined their catalogs and perhaps you can get some good idea there. www.datasoft.com/
