Designing a Power Supply for MIL-STD-704A

04/11/2007 10:02 AM

Dear fellow members and guests,

I want to know about MIL-STD-704A specifications. I searched a lot for this document, but I came to know that it is now superseded by the 704F. I need to design a power supply that meets 704A.

What perspectives are important to design a system that meets 704A standards?

Advanced thaks for helpers.

Regards

Gayatri

You can purchase Rev A (and all the other revs) of this document at glogal.ihs.com. If you have a copy of the F rev, you should be able to look at the revision history to get an idea of what the earlier document looked like.

No, I don't have Rev-F with me, I stopped buying it because I came to know that Rev-F is relaxed in terms of specs, which is not preferable for our design.

Can you briefly tell me what type points are covered in this standard?

I know nothing about the standard except where you can get it.

Thanks Tesla

FM704A is seems to be sutiable for the low power convertors (40W). I am sorry didnt mentioned power rating in my previous comments. It shall sustain around 280W.

FM704A's description is giving some idea of 704A standard.

I think, I need to look for similar datasheets to know more about 704A.

The mil 704 spec defines requirements for AC and DC input power that equipment will operate from. You have line variations, frequency variations, harmonic content, surges, transients, spikes, etc. all defined. Get the spec, it is the only way to answer your question.
