I didn't see any power consumption ratings nor thermal transfer ratings, nor how much power can be transmitted over USB. Thus I don't understand "so powerful!" It might be able to keep cold an item that is already cold, but I doubt that it would chill a warm item in an acceptable time. It will contain a small Peltier/Seebeck effect thermoelectric refrigerator chip.

Let me get this straight... a device to keep a soda can cold that sucks power from a computer USB port... looks kind of like a refrigerator.

Why would... I mean, what do people... are you kidding me?

Who (besides the manufacturer) thought this was a good idea? Someone wasted a lot of money on their college education, I can tell you that.

And I'm not going for that bit about small dorm rooms. Those little dorm refrigerators are as cheap as chips and can double as a night table. USB port beer cooler! Harumph!

Getting maximum 500mA from a USB port that is some 2.5W tops, possibly a small fan, the 5-10% of peltier's Carnot efficiency 1-(Tc/Th) left is not much. Plus I absolutely hate hot Coke. S.M.

No, the thing looks and reads like a peltier device which is going to be hopelessly inefficient as a cooling device when powered of a low power USB port (and with the hot heatsink enclosed in the same space as the cooling plate no less).

Don't buy this product, it doesn't work as a fridge (even the advertising says so)

With this mini fridge at your side, you can keep your beverage chilled and stay at your computer longer

But what do you expect for $9.60

From the article - (suitable for)

Marlboro , mint, strawberry, tobacco, chocolate, cherry, fruit can custom High, Medium, Low tastes

Tabacco flavored cola, really. REALLY! I'll have a can of Marlboro thanks.

It also says under "Minimum System Requirements" that you plug it into a "pore".

Also makes you wonder. If You plug it at a 2.0 or 3.0 port will it cool faster? Or it works at 1.5 Mb/s only. S.M.
