Compress Air

1. Mechanically, with some sort of gear/belt/chain/sprocket drive.
2. Hyraulically, with the turbine driving a hydraulic pump, in turn driving a hydraulic motor to run the compressor.
3. Electrically, with the turbine driving a generator, in turn driving an electrical motor to run the compressor.
4. A low-speed air compressor driven directly from the turbine.

Interesting combination, use wind to create wind, I like it!

Direct coupled is as efficient as your going to get. But, and as always there's a but, how is the compressed air going to be used?

There are already installations using compressed air as energy accumulator to obtain an uniform output.

The main problem is the loss of heat in the air after the compressor. This a loss which cannot be recovered and it is not a small relative amount !

Some systems work with caves insulated for lower loss other intend to use the hydrostatic pressure in deep see to have a constant pressure output in front of the compressed air turbine.

There is an important effort in this direction.

It is very intersting issue and have heard first time. I think it can be coupled through gear box as the case with generator. How ever as auxialary power, it can be connected through over drive clutch. This will enable wind mill to contribute whenever there is wind and when wind is not there, primary prime mover will transmit full power.
