Natural Gas Metering, Meter Proving & Gas Accounting

Anshul, You are really starting to sound like you're doing a term paper. All these questions on SCADA and RTU are obviously coming from the same person. Why not try to do some research on your own.

Yes buddy m a student n doing internship... m doing my research as well but wanna get a hold of some more information through these common forums where ppl put some good knowledgeable stuff....

so just want to read through tat n get more data.

The authority on high precision metering of NG is Arnold Liu, PhD. His postings on the Yahoo safepipelines list have been most informative. He is a vocal advocate of applying the gas metering developed for Space travel to leak detection by mass balance. While current standard practice allows 5% or more Lost and Unaccounted Gas, modern flowmeters can be accurate to 0.1%. I am sure Dr. Liu would happily send you links to several papers on the topic. zumath at aol dot com.

Why don't you contact a NG firm that will allow you to see how they operate - just you get the idea...

Of course SCADA (and automation ) will help in metering (by remote reading of a flow meter and flow computer/volume correctors.

Meter proving is done by a certain piping system that force the gas to flow thru' 2 meters (and then you compare their readings).

You have to start first at a basic knowledge!
