Typetest Panel

06/05/2011 9:39 PM

When a panel maker said their panel is fully typetested, is it possible that they do the typetest with other components?

What would be the problem the panel maker change the components with cheaper one, but that it has also the typetest for each component?

In the type-test certificate if list of components like-make,type,model,serial nr and technical specs as well as material, thickness, finish etc of enclosure including of standard(BS/ASTM/ANSI/VDE) to which they comply ,inspecting engineer's and witnessing engineer's name, educational qualifications, professional status, signature etc are provided it would be very difficult to cheat.

Please note that a penel builder undertakes a type test for his PANEL alone and NOt for the (switchgear) components fitted inside. As per IEC, the components must have undergone their own types tests as specified in their respective product Standards - tested by the respective component manufacturers. It is not the responsibility of the panel builder to stand guarantee for the use of type tested switchgear components in his panel board. If the customer so desires, he must insist so.
