If there is no power factor penalty in the tariff, then power will be charged on a kWh basis or a maximum kW basis. So why worry (rhetorical question)?

If there is a power factor penalty in the tariff, disconnecting one phase will mean either that the loads will redistribute across the remaining phases, saving nothing, or that two-thirds of the power will be charged, saving 1/3 of the outlay, or some factor in between. Either way it cannot be seen from here.

Disconnecting one phase of the metering will make a considerable difference.

A prosecution instigated by your supplier would be the first.

To be fair, CR4 doesn't know whether this is an internal charging meter or an external one.

I know about the accounts department, they weren't happy when I swapped feeders around to balance the loading on the main intake board. Meters that hadn't been used for years started clocking up while other meters just stopped.

The engineering was sound but the bean counters didn't like their little spreadsheet being messed up.
