Facebook Enables Facial Recognition

06/09/2011 12:36 AM

Hi All,

It's time to once again check your Facebook privacy settings as the social network's new facial recognition feature goes global.

Launched in the US last year, the tool looks at photos as they are uploaded and scans a user's friend list to see if it recognises anybody in them. If it does, it automatically suggests they are tagged. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/facebook-enables-facial-recognition-setting-without-warning-use.html

Regards

As long as they send me "dead ringer" alerts for other idiots that look just like me....

Thanks for the heads up. I just disabled it. I never knew it was on.

If any body that puts their face out there where the world can see it should not complain. People complain about their privacy. There is noting private about any of the social web sites like Facebook.

If in fact you are worried about your privacy you should have not joined.

For me it's not so much about facebook, although it would be nice if they let people know when they add apps that are automatically enabled.

It's more the idiot people that I know, that feel the need to break out their stupid little camera phones and start snapping pictures at every little insignificant event that they attend, and run home to post and tag them.

It's not even about privacy. Everyone that knows me well, knows that there's not much to know. What there is, is pretty boring.

I just acknowledge that I'm a superstar, and try to deal with the paparazzi as best I can.

I use Princess Leia. I'm going to get all sorts of great Carrie Fisher tags now? Sweet!

The local newscaster just said Weiner needs to pack it in. I fell out of my chair laughing.

My FB avatar is an activated T-cell. I somewhat doubt I'll be getting tagged a lot.
