Hi All,

Please guide me In Double V groove edge preparation 60° groove for pressure vessel may be made at both side or may 1/3 & 2/3 and what is the tolerance in degree as per which code (is it mentioned in ASME Section 8 Div 1)

If memory serves, the angular tolerances are ±2°, but they are not all that easy to measure from such small distances, especially if manually ground in the field.

V grooves are generally 75° included angle (37.5° on each part); J grooves are more likely to be 60°.

Your company should invest in a copy of the ASME standards, if they intend to manufacture accordingly. Individual employees should not be expected to shell out that much money.
