It probably means "pressure control valve", the meaning of which is self-evident.

That was my guess also, but the best person to ask would be whoever did the drawing. (And there might be a list of abbreviations on the drawing itself or in associated documents.)

It is difficult to answer not having the complete P&I-Diagram.

If this is the control valve after the quick-acting main stop valve of the turbine it indicates that the turbine is controlling the pressurei the main steam line (the boiler pressure). This mode of operation is called the turbine following mode - the steam turbine steam flow depends on the actual produced steeam quantity. The output fluctuates depending on the firing of the boiler.

I agree "PCV" most probably means "pressure control valve" in some installations it is called "control valve " or "main control valve" or MCV. P&I diagram of the installation can gve you the answer since it has legends of symbols and abbreviation, usually found in the first sheet.

good luck!

If it's a pressure control valve there should be/ usually is a gauge drawn beside it. Gauge should have operation pressure system was design to run under.

not all pcv have pressure gauges especially for main controls, a pressure transmitter is installed connected to the main control such as the dcs or dcis panel.
