Pressure vessel asme div 1 section 8,

appendix 1-8B, if the reinforcement required......... is there any way to get around it with reinforcing the vessel.

Maybe with a time machine, by going back and redesigning with a heavier shell and/or nozzle.

Reinforcement required because angle Alpha is 29.2 and Delta < Alpha by cals (ASME section 8, div I, App 1-5 (pg 333-334).

If this is a third world application and not for export to the USA, I would use several coats of urethane paint in lieu of a welded steel reinforcement.

Urethane paint is really really strong....

Anyway, those old geezers who wrote those silly codes and standards regarding nozzle area reinforcement probably forgot thier medication that day
