Generator Selection Criteria

06/26/2011 7:11 AM

Dear All,

In our company there is a load of 340 Kilowatts single phase load connected. For this we are planning to put a 3 phase Generator set. Kindly let me know what are all the parameters to be considered in selecting the Generator for the above load conditions.

Regards

I'd suggest you get an electrical engineer involved. I, for one, would not want to try to list everything that should be considered, here.

If some specific questions come up, ask away.

The loads may all be single phase, but it may be possible to distribute them pretty evenly among the three generator phases. If you can list the individual loads that add up to 340kw, it will be possible to get some suggestions.

Assuming that all the 340 kW will be operating continuously, split it into 3 single phase loads of 120 kW each [approximately] and use a star connected generator to supply each of your 3 single phase load groups. The generator capcity will be around 360 kW in this case.
