The amount of pressure in PSI depends on the total contact area.

Most tail lifts are made to lift, not "press down on something".

The "8,000 psi" and the "two ton weight" are meaningless in this context.

OK,

This question has many answers, yes? Depending how the listener hears it?

If you have a lift that can lift 2 tons (4,000#) and want to know how to produce 8,000 PSI of down force, you'd need a 1/2 inch of contact area. That's assuming the lift produces as much down force as "up force", which I doubt. Most are gravity down, I would think, for safety.

4000 ÷ 64 = 62.5 psi.

I haven't heard before of compacting concrete by putting weight or pressure on it, but I think vibration methods can "float out" any entrained air in the mix.

It seems to me the limit of downforce of some portable machine would be it's own weight...

So, if I wanted 8,000 psi (eight thousand pounds per square inch), I would concentrate the 4 ton weight of the machine on a one inch square pad.

Or, did I miss something in the description?

[edit] I went back and read it all again... I don't have any idea where the numbers should be. Is this device portable? How much does it weigh?
