Sparge Steam

Dear sirs,

Please explain for me about funtion of sparge steam line connected to hotwell of steam condenser. Normally, what is the source of this steam?

Keeping the hotwell hot drives off any dissolved gases in the hot well contents. Dissolved oxygen can contribute to boiler corrosion. It is cheaper to raise the temperature of the water than to replace components in the boiler, with the attendant down-time.

The source of the steam is the boiler itself.

PW has it right. The only thing I would add is that there are designs that extract a small portion of steam from the turbine as a source (which did originally come from the boiler). This regeneration technique can significantly improve the overall plant efficiency.
