2000 sq. ft. house.

Electricity average 690 kwh per month:

Oct-May 420 kwh

June-Sept 1200-1500 kwh (due to air conditioning)

Propane- 25 gallons per month (cooking and hot water)

This is not really the total. I heat the house with wood in the winter. I don't know water usage, I'm on a well............but it's fairly low.

409kWh/month (11.5% is the continuous load for the UV steriliser for the water from a private well) electricity, including cooking.

83L of kerosene per month average over the year for space heating and hot water. Supplementary wood burner space- and water-heating, using wood rounded-up from the district for winter months.

Water is unmetered (no need).

She has always made more money, and has a bigger house. Her household energy consumption is typically 3X mine, or more...............................although they don't seem to do anything that I don't do.

Heating and cooling a large dwelling eats up a lot of energy.

My utility company buy natural gas at international price at about USD4.5 per MMBTU.

They sell to me at USD 0.138 per kwh

Never seen gas sold in "kwh", which in my world stand for "kilowatt hours", which is a value of electrical energy consumption. Do you perhaps have another meaning for kwh?

The utility company convert gas volume to kwh, energy, based on known heating value of gas.

What is a "typical family in the world"?

2 people in a 2600 sq ft house with pool runs about 3000 kwh in july, about 2500 kwh in january, and 1200 kwh in april and october. The energy demands will vary a lot by season and location. In California the cooling is more of a energy demand than heating. I would suspect the opposite in the far northern States, and worse in the deep deserts.

My consumption: 50 sq m. area, 2 persons.... Average 70 KWH per month, 1500 lit of water per month and petrol (gas in American language) 100 liters

Hmm that seems low, or is this the amount you have to augment your usage with from the grid?

An electric oven running at 350 degrees for 1 hour uses about 2 kWh alone. An electric stovetop running for 1 hour uses about 1 kwh. A microwave oven running for 15 minutes on high uses about 1/3 kwh. A clothes dryer running for 1 hours uses about 4+ kwh per load. An energy star efficient washer uses about 15 kwh a month on a average family. A refrigerator uses about 40 kwh a month.

Actually, I was just trying to figure out the 70 kwh monthly demand. It seems more like a weekly demand. As far as the numbers presented those are just a US average from the government. I am not sure if it is any different for California. I would actually expect it to be lower per capita in some place like Oregon, as they are much more environmentally oriented than typical Californians.

Ohh, I forgot one more energy consumption we are doing.... cooking gas.... 3kg/month

I do not use electric oven, no microwave oven. No electric stove, no dish washer.

Washing machine, without heater drying... once in a week.

I have just 80 lit refrigerator... a small one.

No air conditioner though in summer, some times I feel I should have it.

No room heaters... we are fortunate. No such extreme cold in my region of India (and most of India)

In my case, electrical consumption varies fro 250 kwh/month to 600kwh/month for 5 persons. The maximum being in summer month because of two window airconditioners. The price of electricity is Rs. 5 to Rs. 7 per kwh(One USD = Rs45approx). The price is lower if consumption is low to encourage energy saving.

The natural gas consumption for cooking is about 25 cubic metres per month.

I use solar hot water system for bath water.

No meter on water consumption.
