Car Engine Piston Material

i would like to know which is the best matrial used for the piston and why?

What application? If it's for a mass production item, stick with an Aluminium alloy for heat conductivity, ease of casting and reduced mass. If you want a high performance item where cost is not an issue, the sky's the limit!

As Plbmak said.... you could use plastic if you weren't interested in a long life piston!!!

I am assuming you are talking about a piston for use in a car i.c. engine...

Cars contain loads of different sorts of pistons, used in suspension systems, braking hydraulics, damping applications etc...

It's been a while since I was around cars but generally I.C. pistons are made of and aluminum alloy and there are probably a thousand different recipes. I know that 10 or 15 years ago makers started adding silicone to help control expansion and reduce blow-by. I could only imagine what they are doing these days.
