To understand the difference, try closing a valve downstream of each. Only, please make sure that no CR4 reader is close to the PD one when it explodes.

Positive displacement blowers have sealed compression chambers. They pump a specific volume of fluid with each revolution.

Non-positive displacement blowers (centrifugal, etc.) allow fluid to bypass the compressor.

Output of positive displacement blowers is regulated by pump speed, mostly.

Other types can be throttled with valves.

Doesn't matter. Somebody'll just vote it OT. I lost 5 GA's one day a week or so ago.

I was devastated.

All blowers are generally rotary type. Reciprocating are very rare.

Rotary type is further classified in to two- Turbo blowers and PD blowers.

Turbo blowers are centrifugal or axial blowers and these are Non-PD type.

PD rotary blowers are Lobe blowers (two lobe or three lobe), vane blowers, screw blowers, water ring blowers etc.

Refer Lyn #2 for difference.
