The correct answer, is to contact the "authority having jurisdiction" While I do not know where you need the information for, but the NFPA is a good starting point. It is standard that is used throughout the US. Local areas might have some stricter interpretations than this, But this is close to start with. Remember that this is the minimum acceptable in most cases. You might need more than minimum. Good luck.

In the first place, if you're made of money, can I have some? If not, you need to contact a local licensed pro for advice, not a bunch of Guru's like us on an international forum. None of us have enough information to make the call on an issue with requisites that vary from burg to burg around the world. You'll probably end up spending too much money on equipment you don't need and not enough on the stuff you do. A good first call to make would be to your local fire marshal. It's his job to make sure you get it right. He undoubtably knows that local pro I mentioned. (probably his brother-in-law).

See 4Shared site: http://search.4shared.com/q/1/Sprinklers

Also, see NFPA 13, 13D, 13E and 13R (Total pages 622).

I would also recommend that you hire a fire safety expert as codes vary greatly depending on your location. However if you want to expand your knowledge (in addition to seeking an expert's advise) you should review NFPA 101- Life Safety Code, NFPA 220- Standards on Building Construction and NFPA 231- Standards on storage (in addition to those previous mentioned in this forum). You may find that ANSI codes apply as well.

I agree. The building has to have the correct size FW header, then state approved back-flow-preventer. The routing in the building should be by an experience pro. A piper co-worker of mine tried to do a material takeoff. he found it difficult, not being a fire protection spealist. good luck !
