anyways, as answered in #3, dosing pumps is used in water treatment, putting a controlled amount of chemicals in order to have a desired water characteristics/properties.
Dosing is used extensively in water treatment, to meter small proportions of chemical into a larger flow.

Dosing pumps are used for many applications. At the small end there are peristaltic pumps dosing detergent and rinse aid into commercial dishwashers.
They are also used in laundrys to dose detergent, destainer, starch, softener and suchlike.
Water treatment, as said before is a major use, with swiming pools being a small scale application in this field.
