The saga of the 25 year old Galloni cast machine continues……..
I resolved the potentiometer problem http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/69270#comment736188
I have replaced much of the #14 SFF-2 (high temp) control wiring with the same type.
I have now discovered a bad selector switch. I have once again contacted Galloni and due to the age of the machine they are unable to help me.
I have Googled "Galloni Cast Machine" and upon further research found that Galloni was imported by Vernon-Benchoff which was later merged/purchased by CMP Industries. CMP is unable to help because of the age of the machine.
I have learned the switch is called a "Slip Close" or a "Slip Open".
The two stacked contact blocks are configured such that as you rotate the switch the front contacts stay closed until the back contacts make then the front ones open as you move through the detents.
The switch is marked "COPREL" and there is a hand written number "2599014". I have tried to Google "COPREL" and several variations thereof with no success.
The switch is three position:
Rest - Precious - Non-Precious
The operation sequence is:
1. Turn on power to the cast machine.
2. At this point the switch is in the "Non-Precious: position, all the way to the right.
3. Rotate the switch to the left one click to the "Precious" position.
4. Rotate the switch to the left to the "Reset" position.
5. Rotate the switch to the right to the "Precious" position.
6. Rotate the switch to the right to the "Non-Precious" position.
At this point the crucible begins heating to melt the metal.
Here is an image of the switch (sorry for the poor quality).

Is anyone familiar with this type of switch??
Any suggestions for a modern day substitution???
