Cathodic Protection

I will install 1200 meters carbon steel pipe natural gas line ,underground, length of each pipe that to be welded is 12 meter long, pipes supplied with PE protector , my question is we need to use sacrificial anode cathodic protection ? how many points along the pipeline are required to be connected with anodes ?

please suggest me with proper informations , thank you guys

Natural gas pipelines in the UK are almost entirely PVC, and all new installation is in PVC.
