Problem in Communication with Siemens PLC S7-200

07/28/2011 5:33 AM

I have a "USB/PPI Multi master cable for connecting my Laptop with PLC S7-200. First time when I bought that cable, I connected it with PLC and PC and found communication well. But now after two years, when I connect the cable with PLC and Laptop and run the program, an error for communication time out appears at My S7-200 Network. I restarted the PC and PLC several times but no results appeared. Please assist how to resolve this issue.

Did you use the same laptop when you had the system communicating correctly?

Check to make sure you didn't inadvertantly change the PC port settings, baud rate, UART bits, etc.

Sounds like you have an update or software conflict now on your laptop. I would check the Siemens support pages for any information. I would also consider contacting Siemens technical support directly. Then again you may just have a variant of the Stuxnet PLC virus, now that there's an open source listing of the original code.

But with software, who knows what the real root cause could be. You may have moved your talisman to the wrong part of your desk.

Dear All,

Someone helped me and my problem solved.

In PG/PC Interface, select USB instead of COM1 and closed the "S7-200 Explorer" (before that i was mistaking, just "Refreshing", not closed it). Then restarted it and found communication well.
