Kiln Power

kiln running at 200 tph at 4.0 rpm with very disturbed burning zone ,what may be the reason while changing its rpm to 1.5 & feed at 110 tph, KW of the kiln motor(vfd operated) decreased to 8 kw, although after proper kiln operational steps its KW got normal & running very fine.can any one answer me the reason?

For a brief period, the motor had to lift more material into the tumbling zone than it would have done at the earlier speed.

If you watch the burden in a rotary kiln you will see it lift on the kiln side and then tumble back, a bit like waves on a beach. Increase the speed and burden then as you said yourself it becomes very erratic.

What is the rated throughput of the kiln?

4 rpm seems very High for this application 1.5 to 2 is much more stable.

Is this a kiln for making portland clinker?
