08/09/2011 8:17 AM

Hi,

Would inform me the following design pressure & temperature of power piping and how to get these?

Q1. Design Pressure & Temperature of HP Steam Line for Power Plant

Operating Pressure : 119.3 bara → Design Pressure : ???

Operating Temperature : 565.9 deg.C → Design Temperature : ???

Q2. Design Pressure & Temperature of MP Steam Line for Power Plant

Operating Pressure : 18 bara → Design Pressure : ???

Operating Temperature : 230 deg.C → Design Temperature : ???

Q3. Design Pressure & Temperature of LP Steam Line for Power Plant

Operating Pressure : 2.8 bara → Design Pressure : ???

Operating Temperature : 140 deg.C → Design Temperature : ???

Temperature as well? (not that I've anything better to offer )

But the mind boggles if he's going to build a system using steam at 119.3 bara and 565.9 deg.C on a few tips from this forum!

Is this for acedmic purpose or some serious business?

This is project basic engineering and you can not rely on some expert tips from this forum. The project philosphy by the project licensor and the detailing by project engineeing contractor will gice details.

BTW 1.5 times is true only for pressure. !!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok JBK, lets get serious. Based on your query, it is obvious you are going for a Thermal Power Project with a Boiler 119.3 bar to drive a Steam Turbine and extract at 18 bar and finally at 2.8 bar. Why the hell are you asking us? On such million $ Projects, the Supplier details you everything. All their Drawings are marked " When in doubt ask" - so why don't you ASK the Supplier or the Boiler / Turbine manufacturers. Ask your Consultant. If this is not within your scope and responsibilities then let the specialist do their job. No offense please.

Based on previous questions posted by the OP, this appears to be homework.

I truly hope it is just homework and not a real project in progress

Dear JBK

The rule of thumb is for pressure of greater than equal to 17.2 bar, add 10%. For example, for P=30 barg then Pd= 33 barg. For pressure less than 17.2 barg, just add 1.72 bar. For example, for P = 10 barg then Pd = 11.72 barg.

However, the operating pressure and temperature should be the maximum possible.

Hope the above helps
