Grieshaber

08/10/2011 4:22 PM

Hello CR4 members.

I need to locate some older information on a Grieshaber grinder. In particular the PLC program.

If anyone knows where and or who to contact that had any sort of association with this particular manufacturer I would very grateful.

Thanks Dave

Thanks for the replies, Supfina bought Grieshaber and they have no information on the Grieshaber grinders/hones.

I'm sorry to hear that. If I am to understand the piece of equipment you have, it is something like a CNC, except the tool piece is a grinding wheel. The piece to be machined is clamped onto a platform and is moved back and forth and side to side as the grinding tool comes down at prescribed heights to machine the part. All of this is done with specific programs that are entered into the PLC. Let me know if I'm off, and tell me how the machine does work.

Is the PLC program entirely lost? Did you get the machine used? If so, can you contact the seller?

More detail about what you are experiencing would really help.

There are probably some sites that are more specific to automated machining equipment. I would search some of these out and maybe even try eBay.

The machine is actually a hone and operates in much the same way as you describe. although I don't know exactly because this machine was shipped from Germany sevral years ago and has since been in moth balls.

As I understand this particular machine was like a Rolls Royce in the hone world. The power supply has failed and of course the battery has filed as well, so the PLC program is gone.

The machine looks brand new as there is no sign of use. I got a quote from another Manufacturer for well over 100k to get it running.

This cost does not ensure exact operation nor performance. it covers only to make it move.

The machine was originally built in 1992 if that helps I do not have a lot to go on. I think if I spoke with someone who was part of the original company I would have a little better success at finding a solution.

Yes, I am in a habit of reading before talking. When the guy mentioned, it was from Germany, I looked there. The problem is, that Grieshaber (or other such...haber) is a fairly common personal name there.

I found the Sufina and the separate Grieshaber precision machinery and tooling. It looks like the right place. Company names do not duplicate there.

Thanks for the reply, I checked out the site. I am going to call them and attempt to get some info. Possibly they may know where to find what I need.

Thanks
