Car Care

08/16/2011 11:25 AM

my car roof is getting heated up when parked in front of my office, there is no shed to park, suggest me any type of thermal insulation, which can be put between the metal roof and interior roof top, so that the radiation can be avoided.

If thats the worst thing you can find to worry about all day then you clearly need more work to do at work.

Make your own "ambrella": Use 4 metal plates that you can put in front of the tires to drive on to. Each plate must have a pipe welded on to the corner of each plate at about 45 degrees. Push rods into this pipes to hold a shade-cloth over the car. Ropes or rubber bands hooked onto the rods and other end to car bumper can hold the shade-cloth taught.

You'd need a very thin insulator with extremely low thermal conductivity and very high thermal capacitance. I think you are asking for unobtanium.

Use a sun shield or fan as was previously suggested. You could also try simply painting the roof of the car white.
