Emission Conversion

how we convert the diesel emissions which are in mg/Nm3 into gm/kWh the problem is that local legislation , in my country , gives emission in mg/Nm3 and EURO-II or other standards describe them in gm/KWh , one way is to multiply the volume of exhaust gas and than divide it with kWh of DG set but than how to get the volume of exhaust gas would it be the volume of one cylinder multiply by total number of cylinders of DG set ? not sure about the method , help and advice from all concern is requested and appreciated

Multiply volume of all cylinders times RPM and divide by 4 for approximate volume of exhaust gas.

No lyn, for a 4-stroke diesel it's multiply volume of all cylinders times RPM and divide by 2. There's one exhaust stroke for 2 engine revs. That's if the engine is naturally aspirated, higher if it's turbocharged. If it's a 2-stroke engine it's just volume of all cylinders times RPM, but then there is always a blower for scavenging and maybe some additional air is blown through. Best to contact manufacturer in those circs.

For a petrol engine above is only (approx) right at full throttle, when inlet manifold pressure is close to atmospheric. At part throttle it's lower and Nm3 is lower.

Also he needs to multiply by 60 as he's in gm/kWh.
