A 3 phase Inverter for a 50 kW induction motor control , good enough for EV car should be very challenging and enriching project .

I agree completely. This is more interesting than, for example, an industrial inverter drive, where size and weight are less of a concern. There are existing automotive drives in this class, but they are expensive. Perhaps the project could focus on cost reduction. It would also be interesting to give thought to low voltage (<50V DC input) drives to enable battery packs to be less lethal (albeit requiring larger cables).

hint you can get the thing to go way wider on the ac input if you place an inductor in the self power winding path. Look out for self inductance in your xformer.
