Inspection Software for Railway Infrastructure

08/29/2011 11:16 PM

Hi,

What I would like to know.

Is there any software available, specific for Railway Infrastructure Inspections to do the following?

1. Safety Inspections on the railway track assets?

2. Condition Assessment Inspections on railway track assets?

I hope anybody can solve this question.

Thanks.

Microsoft Access can be used.

Where have you looked so far? Or, is this your first stop?

My wife and I have taken the Coast Starlight train from LA to Seattle twice. Dinner in the Space Needle during the 4th of July fireworks show was spectacular also!

It was a great trip, both times. Beautiful unspoiled (mostly) scenery.

The first trip was interrupted by an earthquake somewhere in southern Wash. We didn't feel it, but had to wait till they inspected miles of track. I believe that they used firmware, and eyeballs, to inspect the track.

Someday, maybe the track can just inspect itself.

WOW, your trip sounds like it was fun AND exciting!!

We have tentative plans with two of the grand kids out to Wyoming in November.

I am really looking forward to the "unspoiled scenery"!

Self inspecting track, interesting...........can I assumed LynDoor Industries has something in the works?

Amtrak's northbound Coast Starlight does make getting to Seattle from Los Angeles a great experience in the way of scenery. The morning of the second day (between Klamath Falls and Eugene) gives you a good look at the Cascades from the inside. Rails go where pavement can't.

Please, if you find software that can do onsite inspections of equipment, let me know. I would like to invest in something that far ahead of the curve.

Hello Everyone,

We actually specialize in inspection software. Check out our site here: http://www.fieldid.com. Basically, our system uses handheld devices, the web, and electronic identification to digitize the inspection process. We actually already have railway companies using our software.

To get a quick overview, check out our youtube chan:

If you want more information, contact us directly at <email removed>.

Best,

Thank you for the reply but it is not what I am looking for.

I need to know if there is any software to do Inspection on Turnouts, curves and track. If there are I can do better because of my 35 years back ground in this field.

I have written such software but need to know if there are any competitions. Up to now I could not find any on all my searches on the Internet. I also called some Railway head offices but they can't help me.

Thanks.

It isn't clear how the link between the measurable parameters and the software is intended to be carried out.

My software is at this moment being tested by three different railways and so far I had only good results. Inspection measurements are done to determine your emergency "Hot spots", short term, medium term and long term planning of maintenance and materials. Many reports and graphs are available to analyse the inspection readings.

Racdata,

Tell me, what was missing from the Field ID system?
We are always improving the system, any feedback would be great. However, just watching the overview video is not a good indicator what our inspection software can do. Have you signed up for a detailed demo?

I did not register to see the domo on Field ID. But what I see this is exclusive for ISO 90001 health and safety. This software may be useful for the inspections of assets that must be adequate to the ISO standards, where you can quickly do your inspections on all the assets.

I do have a little knowledge of these inspections done for ISO. There are a few loopholes in the system that I know of.

What is your role in this software?

Racdata - I am one the co-founders of the company. A google alert popped up and I thought I would add my 2 cents.

Can you send me spreadsheet or document that you are currently using to see if Field ID is a fit? Send it to contact@fieldid.com.

There's an award winning method and software for precisely that, here:

Check the RAIL CRC section, then Google on Fred Mau.

Brilliant!
